Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz
Skye Stoury recently graduated with a BA in dance from Chapman University in Orange, California where she choreographed for many student shows and was on Team Shaka the Chapman hip hop team. Once back in Seattle Skye has interned with Seattle Theater Group doing education outreach in dance and music along with being their rehearsal director for a Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo piece. Before college Skye trained in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop and ballet at Westlake Dance Center in Seattle, Washington where she now teaches. While at Westlake she was on Westlake Performing Group, a pre-professional company directed by Kirsten Cooper. Along with that Skye has danced and performed with hip hop groups such as Potion, Butch Queens, LV and Cruz Control. She also was a performer in the city of Sammamish “Sami Awards”, several of Tabitha and Napoleon Dumoʼs Dance This pieces, the Dance Masterʼs of America Benefit show, Maxt Out in LA, Christina Woodard’s piece in Dance For A Cure, and Cruz Controlʼs Battle Of Seattle 9 along with local and school shows.
Her choreography has been in Unplugged (Westlake Performing Groupʼs show), Chapman Universityʼs CDA show, Works in Progress and Mainstage Spring Dance Concert along with one of Westlake Dance Centerʼs In House Show, and has won choreography awards at many competitions. This past summer she was a lead dancer in West Side Story set by Broadway choreographer and Tony award winner Joey Mcneely. Skyeʼs main dance style is a mix of her contemporary and hip hop training to create movement that tends to be quirky and sharp all the way to smooth and more technical. Currently Skye is a member of Cruz Control and does professional dance work around the Seattle area along with teaching ballet, lyrical and jazz at Definitive Dance.
